Tale of two Bruins

Two dudes pretending to drive a Zamboni on the Zakim bridge, doesn't get much better than that. I got the picture below signed by Andrew Raycroft and Patrice Bergeron when the did a signing at the Boston Bruins Pro Shop during Bergeron's rookie year. We all know what Bergeron turned into for the Bruins but I can't help to imagine how much cooler this picture would be if Raycroft turned into the same caliber player for the B's (granted he did win rookie of the year). Raycroft has been out of the NHL since 2010 and Bergeron is still going strong. Some fun Raycroft facts; during the 2005-2006 season he was demoted to the Bruins 3rd string goalie behind a guy named Tim Thomas and Hannu Toivonen (remember him??). Then during the off season he was trade to the Maple Leafs for some finnish dude named... Tuukka Rask. No matter where life has brought Raycroft and Bergeron over the years they will always have their time on the Zakim. *** The Zakim opened March 30th,

Super Patriot gone but... forgotten.

This is the glorious 1978 Patriots media guide featuring Super Patriot. Its a cool random patriots item that doesn't cost much money, probably about $10 on Ebay, etc. It makes a cheap conversation piece. Super Patriot was the Patriot's brain child to cash in on the super hero craze with the first Super Man movie coming out. They even had a live Super Patriot mascot that sadly had a real tough time after his short stint as Super Patriot came to a sad end. I remembered reading about this a long time ago and thanks to the magic of the internet found the story from 2012 (link below). ESPN Super Patriot story Here are a few photos of my media guide. Imagine if Frito Lay kept their donation through the Brady era.

Patriots/Red Sox Fenway Park Mugs

The first time I saw one of these mugs was last year and I immediately bought it. It was the white one at a local show in Mansfield, MA. It was one of those times collecting when you throw caution to the wind, you don't care about overpaying, you see it, know you have never seen one, and want it, simple as that. They guy that sold it had two white ones, he said they came from an estate sale from a guy's house in Rhode Island. He has been collecting and selling Boston sports memorabilia for a long time and he had never seen one either. I said how much for 1 and he said he wasn't sure, he wasn't intending to sell any. A $100 figure was thrown out there and the deal was done. Didn't know if I massively overpaid and didn't care. Fast forward to last month and I see someone selling the brown (Amber) one on Facebook Marketplace for......... $15. Needless to say I got my ass in the car and drove to get it. So here is what I know from researching these. The BOSTON

The first post, Super Bowl 36.

This blog is for people that share the same (many words I could use here, um, passion, yeah I'll go with passion and not some choice words my wife would use) as me when it comes to collecting Boston sports memorabilia. I am especially drawn to the history of our great teams. I have been collecting since I was 15 and lets just say I am a lot older than that now. The Patriots just won their 6th Super Bowl title so I figured my first post on this blog should be Patriots related. Lets bring it back to the first Super Bowl Championship season. That would be Super Bowl 36 vs the ST. Louis Rams. Did you know the patriotic American flag logo of Super Bowl 36 isn't the original logo? Below is a rare original Riddell mini helmet I found a few years ago with the original logo and date; yes the original date changed too. I haven't come across another one for sale since but I have seen the pocket "micro" helmet version (I bought that too). So here is the sco
