Patriots/Red Sox Fenway Park Mugs
The first time I saw one of these mugs was last year and I immediately bought it. It was the white one at a local show in Mansfield, MA. It was one of those times collecting when you throw caution to the wind, you don't care about overpaying, you see it, know you have never seen one, and want it, simple as that.
They guy that sold it had two white ones, he said they came from an estate sale from a guy's house in Rhode Island. He has been collecting and selling Boston sports memorabilia for a long time and he had never seen one either. I said how much for 1 and he said he wasn't sure, he wasn't intending to sell any. A $100 figure was thrown out there and the deal was done. Didn't know if I massively overpaid and didn't care.
Fast forward to last month and I see someone selling the brown (Amber) one on Facebook Marketplace for......... $15. Needless to say I got my ass in the car and drove to get it.
So here is what I know from researching these. The BOSTON Patriots only played at Fenway from 1963-1968. I assume they were sold at Fenway Park or surrounding area as they have both home teams on them. They are were made by a company called Siesta Ware that seemed to dominate the glassware tchotchke/souvenir market in the 1960's. Their mugs are all over Ebay with their signature glass mug and wooden handle combo coming in different sizes and colors.
BUT
Looking for these Fenway Park mugs specifically brings up very little. I can only find one listing on Ebay for a white one that has a buy it now price of $250. So pricing on these from what I have personally seen is all over the map like a drunk Lewis and Clark. Since the Patriots didn't play at Fenway all that long and the fact these mugs are glass with a wooden handle I assume not a lot survived the test of time.
If you have any info on them please share in the comments (even thought right now I haven't told anyone this blog exists).
